This feature can be helpful in the following situations:

  • Military Operations

    • Example: Dual Grid can be used for comparing latitude and longitude coordinates to map grid coordinates.

What is the Kill Switch feature?

Some Garmin watches offers a hot key option named Kill Switch. The Kill Switch allows you to reset your watch quickly, dumping any stored data and reverting the watch to factory settings.1 You may find this option useful if you work in a position where data saved on your watch could be considered sensitive.

Note: The Kill Switch is not set by default. This is because the Kill Switch will perform a reset of your watch, and should only be set to a hot key if your data could be compromised. We recommend setting the Kill Switch to a two button combination hot key so that it is not accidentally engaged.2

Setting the Kill Switch Hot Key

  1. Hold UP/MENU.
  2. Select System.
  3. Select Hot Keys.
  4. Select the hot key you would like the Kill Switch set to.
  5. Select Kill Switch.

1The Kill Switch will perform a full master reset of your watch. Any saved data, sensor or device pairings, custom settings, and device history will be deleted when using the Kill Switch.

2When the Kill Switch is engaged a countdown timer will start, and the watch will power off and back on. It will then display an eraser icon for several minutes before returning to initial setup.

How do I enable/disable Stealth Mode on my Garmin tactical watch?

Stealth Mode can be enabled to turn off track logging and any wireless communication. Activities can still be started to monitor time, pace, elevation, and location, but this information will not be saved on the watch. Stealth Mode can not be enabled during an active activity and can only be enabled from the Control Menu.

NOTE: Save or discard your current activity before enabling Stealth Mode.
